magicJack Signs LeBlanc

As has been reported elsewhere and has now been confirmed by WPS, magicJack has signed goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc of the Canadian National Team.

With Hope Solo injured, magicJack was looking for another experienced keeper and LeBlanc was the obvious choice. She had a stellar 2009 season with the Los Angeles Sol, posting a 0.53 goals against average and 12 shutouts.

After Los Angeles folded, she was signed by Philadelphia, where she shared time as the number one keeper for the Independence. Eventually, Val Henderson won the number one spot for the playoffs and LeBlanc was not signed for the 2011 season, concentrating her time on the Canadian National Team.

In addition to her experience in WPS, LeBlanc also played with the Boston Breakers in the WUSA from 2001-03. She joins Solo and Jill Loyden as magicJack's goalkeepers.

MagicJack also announced that they have terminated goalkeeper Brett Maron and mutually terminated forward/midfielder Johanna Rasmussen. Maron made four starts for magicJack during the World Cup. Rasmussen made eight appearances, three of which were starts, for magicJack scoring one goal.
