Independence and Beat Play To a Scoreless Draw

The Atlanta Beat were able to earn a point on the road, playing a scoreless draw with the Philadelphia Independence on Saturday night in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Allison Whitworth was the star for the Beat, making 10 saves in the match, plus stopping Lianne Sanderson's penalty attempt to end the first half. Whitworth was making just her second start of the season for the Beat.

For Philadelphia, it was a night of frustration as they were unable to cash in on several goal scoring opportunities. The Independence outshot the Beat by a 17-3 margin for the match and were whistled for eight offsides calls. Val Henderson got the shutout for the Independence.

Philadelphia remains in third place with a 2-2-3 record, pending today's magicJack-Boston matchup. Atlanta now stands at 1-6-2 with five points.
