Germany Defeats Italy in World Cup Prep

Germany played the second of four pre-World Cup matches on Friday and easily defeated Italy by a 5-0 margin.

An own goal gave Germany a 1-0 halftime lead, before the World Cup hosts scored four second half goals to put the game away. Alexandra Popp scored twice, with Kim Kulig and Celia Okoyino da Mbabi adding a goal each. Popp and Okoyino da Mbabi were second half substitutions for the Germans.

Up next for the defending World Cup champions is a match against Holland on Tuesday to be played in Aachen.
