O'Sullivan Relieved as Coach of the Beat

Gareth O'Sullivan has been relieved as head coach of the Atlanta Beat. Assistant Coach Robbie Nicholson was also let go. James Galanis will act as interim coach for the Beat.

Under O'Sullivan, the Beat struggled early on, earning only one point in their first six matches. Atlanta lost two key players early on, which contributed to a slow start. The first overall pick of the 2010 draft, Tobin Heath, was lost after the season had barely started and former Sol midfielder/defender Manya Makoski has missed the entire season due to injury.

Atlanta had fought their way back into the playoff picture with a 4-2-3 record in June and July. But three consecutive losses have cost them dearly. They are now 4-10-5 with 17 points. Atlanta travels to New Britain, Connecticut to face the Boston Breakers on Saturday.
