FC Gold Pride has announced that they have released Brandi Chastain. The long-time veteran of the USWNT was drafted by Gold Pride last January in the 7th round of the draft. At 41, she was briefly the oldest player in the league, surpassed when Sissi was signed to play by Gold Pride late in the 2009 season.
Chastain played in 10 games for FC Gold Pride, starting the late five matches of the season. In addition to the WPS, she also played in the WUSA and for several years in the WPSL for the California Storm.
