The Atlanta Beat has announced the signing of former Florida State star Mami Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi was Atlanta's 3rd pick in the international draft held for expansion teams last fall.
Yamaguchi won the prestigious MAC Hermann Award as the outstanding college female soccer player in 2007 while at Florida State. She is the all-time leader in career assists for Florida State, and is 2nd in career points and 3rd in career goals.
Yamaguchi has spent the last two seasons with Umeå of the Swedish Damallsvenskan. She scored 3 goals in 2008 and 4 goals in 2009.
