Aly Wagner Retires

For the 2nd time in just 3 months, a USWNT veteran has retired. Aly Wagner, a two time Olympic Gold Medalist and former member of the Los Angeles Sol has announced her retirement according to www.ussoccer.com.

Wagner was a familiar face on US Women's National Teams for the past decade and was one of the top offensive players in women's soccer. Before that, she was a star player with Santa Clara University and helped lead the Broncos to an NCAA title. Among other accolades, she was the MAC Hermann Award winner in 2002.

Wagner was one of the original 21 WPS allocated players in 2008. She, along with Shannon Boxx and Stephanie Cox, was allocated to the Los Angeles Sol. For the Sol in 2009, she played in 15 matches and notched 4 assists, even though she was plagued by injuries throughout the season.

Wagner follows Angela Hucles, another long-time member of the USWNT, in announcing her retirement from professional soccer.
