Lindsey Resigns at Sky Blue, Rampone Named Interim Coach

Sky Blue FC has announced the resignation of Kelly Lindsey as head coach. Lindsey was named as head coach after Ian Sawyers resigned in May. Lindsey took over a Sky Blue team that was at the bottom of the table and molded them into a playoff contender. When Lindsey took over, Sky Blue was 1-3-2 and tied for last place. Their record during her 12 games as head coach was 5-4-3.

Christie Rampone will take over as interim head coach. Rampone is coming back from surgery that was performed just two weeks ago. She is a long time member of US Women's National Team and has appeared in 12 games for Sky Blue this year. She is also the team captain for SBFC.

Sky Blue has just two games left in their regular season, at home against FC Gold Pride on August 5th and at Washington on August 8th. SBFC's playoff hopes looked promising, but a loss to Saint Louis and a tie against Boston, coupled with a Washington Freedom 3 game winning streak has reduced their chances. They presently sit in 5th place. They trail 4th place Boston by 2 points and 3rd place Washington by 3 points.

No official explanation was given for Lindsey's resignation.
