Web Casts For Damallsvenskan Games

By: Jocasta -- Damallsvenskan Soapbox

Don't live in Sweden, but you'd like to catch the Linköping-AIK Damallsvenskan match this Tuesday? Lucky you! A pay-per-view service,
sverigewebben.se, will be streaming the game. Registration for the service is free. You then pay for individual games, which cost 79 Swedish kronor per match (roughly $10).

Click on the words "Bli medlem" ("become member") in the upper right hand corner; doing so will take you to a screen for registering. Google Translate will get you through the registration process pretty well, but here are a couple of the finer points:

Användarnamn = username for logging in (your choice, they suggestusing your email address)

Visningsnamn = on-screeen name that other users can see

Lösenord = password, which will be sent to your email account in clear text, so choose accordingly

Mobiltelefon = cell phone number (obligatory)

An email will then be sent to you with your registration details and a verification code. Click on the link in the mail, give your verification code. Start the service with PayPal/credit card by clicking "Betala här" ("pay here"). Pay no earlier than 4 hours before the start of the game and remember that Sweden is on central European time (6 hours ahead of US Eastern Standard time most of the year). Choose your match, and you're in business.

I watched the AIK-Umeå match at this site (on a Mac), and the quality was just fine. A schedule of future streamed matches (let's hope there will be even more) can be found at
TV-sändningar Damallsvenskan 2009.

PS -- Note that
sverigewebben.se also streams Swedish league American football games, which might be fun for some of you to watch...
